Today I did a firmware upgrade of my handheld Yaesu radio. To do this I had to install three different firmwares called main, sub and dsp. I downloaded one of those 90 day Windows 10 Virtualbox images Microsoft provides, installed the required USB driver and .NET. Everything looked fine, the radio came up in the device manager but the firmware upgrade exe complained that there wasn no connection to the radio. I then went on to try on Win 7 where it flawlessely for the main and sub firmware. However the DSP firmware upgrade required another USB driver only available on Win 10. So I had to switch VMs again to upgrade the last part of the firmware. I wonder who designed this process. That's worse than anything I've seen so far. #
