I guess this is one of the last #SOTA activations in Ólafsfjörður, we're soon on our way home. We had a lot of pretty cold wind. Icelandic summer is definitely over in these parts. However, we at least got some nice views and a respectable CW pileup... #iceland2024 #hamradio

@minino ja, das war sie. Es gab andere Orte, wo so rote Erde sich gleich mit schwarzem Sand abwechselte. Schon sehr ungewohnt für uns.

I updated the firmware on my #QMX and tested it with the tunable RoWaves whip. Finally the tuning mode works as expected, even with SWR protection on. The distracting thumps are still there, though. Even with the new thump suppression on. I have to test this as a minimal #SOTA setup some day.

@Harka It's a CW (morse code) and digital modes only radio to be used on #hamradio bands. I plan to take it to summits as a light weight solution to make CW contacts as parts of my #SOTA (Summits on the Air) activity.

#hamradio I wonder whether I'll ever manage to have a CW QSO where I don't start to sweat in fear of messing up and actually understand what the other side is trying to tell me rather than just sending random things and hoping it fits the conversation.... #cw #learningmorsecode

@g7kse I will, yesterday I had a QSO on 30m with a British station with a RPT of 599 both ways.

I'm still too scared to call CQ. I mostly watch POTA spots, the #SKCC sked page and RBN to find stations calling.

Vor allem im Bereich des Amateurfunks wird heute morsen noch gelernt und benutzt. Aus der Sicht eines blutigen Anfängers gehe ich auf folgende Fragen ein:

* Warum lerne ich überhaupt morsen?
* Welche Methoden und Tools gibt es, um morsen zu lernen?
* Wie wird Morsecode gesendet?
* Wie schnell wird Morsecode gesendet? Welche Übertragungsraten werden dabei erreicht?
* Warum sind Striche und Punkte böse und warum sollte man sie nicht zählen?
* Wo gibts Unterstützung?

On Friday we went out camping on a #sota summit to participate in the VK ZL JA EU S2S event. I made my first ever SOTA DX contacts, to New Zealand and Australia. On Friday in the evening I also managed to catch a DX to Pennsylvania... The cold night was definitely worth it. #hamradio
