Today we went looking for the most northern point of Iceland's mainland. As we were told it was in Hraunhafnartangi and it would be only a short walk to the light house. When we arrived we found the following information:
Apparently Hraunhafnartangi isn't the most northern point after all, we need to look for Rifstangi. Therefore we checked our GPS for the new location and headed off to find a barely cyclable track.
We cycled on until our touring bikes wouldn't make it no more.
From there we continued on foot. There was nothing to be found but emptiness and solitude.
But we finally made it to the real Most Northern Point:
If you look really close, you can see the Arctic Circle on this picture as it's only a few meters from the shore. Of course the most northern point of Iceland is on the island Grimsey which even crosses the Arctic Circle.
